FIXED STARS
According to the ancient astronomers, fixed stars were the stars that never change their direction of motion through out the years. They would all be moving east to west year round and rather considered " fixed or non-moving ". But it is possible that to them, we might be moving in retrograde as our time of our revolution in our orbit maybe slower than theirs.
WANDERING STARS
Sometimes, these ancient astronomers would come across stars that would be moving in the opposite direction which is west to east. Later these stars would move along with the fixed stars in an east to west motion. They were called wandering stars because they thought these stars might have a mind of their own and go were others stars do not.
